13abc's Rebecca Regnier caught up with Claudette and Marty Davis, proprietors of the DC Ranch, as they got ready to roll up the dance floor for good. "Everyone was very generous to us Perrysburg's a wonderful community and they do support their own businesses," says Claudette.
The husband and wife team opened up the DC Ranch in 1983 and over the last 25 years they've had Elvis impersonators, square dances, and of course weddings. "Special weddings are really fun. Weddings are really nice because everything is really positive you know," says Marty. The party hall expanded into dinner theater as well.
Picking out a favorite event is difficult. There were so many from opening night to Perrysburg's high school reunion to the time they're pretty sure they organized a wedding reception for the mafia. Listen to what one godfather told Marty, "When you made my daughter happy for this wedding reception you made my whole family happy."
Over the years they went from owning a party hall to providing almost every service needed for an event. Claudette was even ordained a minister so people could get hitched at the ranch.
The dynamic duo at the DC Ranch want to thank the thousands of line-dancing, high school reunioning, single mingling, and wedding crashers for making their work seem like a party. That's why the DC Ranch is this week's People Places and Things.
