Johnston County woman arrested after arson investigation

JOHNSTON COUNTY (WTVD) -- Johnston County sheriffs arrested a woman after a house fire that caused $100,000 in damages.

Lauren Amelia Stephens, 22, was arrested Monday.

Around 8:15 p.m. Sunday fire crews responded to a call in the 100 block of Lakeside Circle in the Willow Spring community.

Authorities said they believe a shirt was set on fire and then placed in a closet. The fire then spread to the rest of the house.

Officials said several dogs and at least two snakes were rescued without injury.

Stephens was booked into the Johnston County Jail under a $50,000 bond.
