CUMBERLAND COUNTY (WTVD) -- A daycare worker in Cumberland County is facing child abuse charges after authorities say she dislocated a 22-month-old's elbow when trying to make the child pick up toys.

Sheriff's deputies arrested 32-year-old Chastity Patterson of Fayetteville Tuesday after the child's parents reported the injury happening on Nov. 20 at the Pampers, Hugs and Luv's Daycare on Sandhills Road in Hope Mills.

The toddler was treated at Cape Fear Valley Health System for a dislocated elbow after detectives said an investigation revealed Patterson pulled the child's arm in such a way to separate the elbow joint.

Patterson is charged with felony child abuse inflicting serious injury. She is currently being held in the Cumberland County Jail under a $10,000 bond.
