DALLAS -- An American Airlines plane set to travel from Dallas to Chicago was evacuated by emergency slide at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport due to possible smoke in the cabin, officials say.
American airlines released this statement:
"American Airlines Flight 1658, from Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) to Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD) deplaned using emergency exits at gate A14 because of possible smoke in the cabin. The flight was ready for departure when the incident occurred. Our fleet service team was still on the ramp and assisted passengers and crew with a successful evacuation of the aircraft. Preliminary reports indicate that there are three minor injuries.
The aircraft is an MD-80 with 141 passengers and a crew of five. We will reaccommodate passengers on another aircraft to ORD."
