2 killed in Lee County crash

LEE COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) -- The State Highway Patrol is investigating a double fatal crash in Lee County.

It happened just before 11:30 a.m. Monday on U.S. Highway 421 near the Harnett County line.

Troopers said the driver an SUV drifted across the center line. Another vehicle swerved to avoid it, and ended up hitting the SUV head-on.

A biker was thrown off his motorcycle trying to avoid the crash.

Troopers said the drivers of the SUV and the second vehicle died at the scene.

The biker was flown to UNC hospital.

At last report, the victims' names had not been released.
