FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- A crime lab opening in Fayetteville next month is expected to significantly cut the time to process evidence.
Cumberland County law enforcement officers and prosecutors announced the new lab on Monday morning. It's expected to open on June 1.
Evidence in blood alcohol testing and drug identification will no longer be sent to Raleigh or Charlotte for testing. The convenience of a local lab is expected to cut processing time from two years to five days in certain cases.
