Fayetteville shooting leads to police chase and crash
FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- Two people are hurt after a shooting in Fayetteville that led to a police chase and crash.
It started just after midnight Friday morning in the 4700 block of Belford Drive.
Police said a man was shot at a home and a white Dodge Charger was seen leaving the area.
Officers spotted a car in the area matching the description and tried to pull it over, but the car took off at a high rate of speed.
It later crashed into a utility pole at Black and Decker Road and Hennardland Place.
A man inside got out and ran. A woman in the car was found seriously injured.
"The male suspect had fled and left the area by the time the officers had got there. The female was found on the ground. It's unknown whether she was thrown from the car or whether she crawled out of the car on her own. She had significant injuries to where she was at the scene and not able to run away," explained Fayetteville Assistant Police Chief Katherine Bryant.
The victim of the shooting was not identified.
Police said Friday the injured woman is 22-year-old Jayah Jordan. She's charged with fleeing to elude, driving while license revoked, and accessory after the fact. She was listed in serious condition at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
Police said the man in the car - 24-year-old Jamal McSwain - is still on the loose. He faces charges of attempted first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, and possession of a stolen firearm.
