Woman hit by car in Garner

GARNER, NC (WTVD) -- A woman is recovering in the hospital after being hit and tossed through the air by a car in Garner Thursday morning.

It happened on Hwy 401, just south of the 70 split.

Police say 25-year-old Jessica Lynn Watson was standing on the traffic island at the 4400 block of Fayetteville Road at the entrance to a strip mall and was holding a sign advertising a local nail salon when a red PT Cruiser hit her.

Authorities said she was conscious at the scene and talking with EMS crews as they transported her to WakeMed.

James Edward Evans, 59 of Raleigh, was arrested and charged with driving while impaired and careless and reckless driving.
