Jewelry robbed from Gold Assay of Durham

DURHAM (WTVD) -- Investigators need the public's help identifying the person responsible for robbing a jewelry store in Durham on Thursday.

Police said it happened around 1:15 p.m. at Gold Assay on Fayetteville Road.

Authorities said a man told the Gold Assay employee that he had some jewelry he wanted to sell. When the employee looked up, the suspect pointed a gun and demanded jewelry.

The suspect allegedly took several pieces of jewelry and fled in a red car. Authorities said the car may have been a Kia Soul, and it was driven by a second person.

Police described the suspect as a black male with a light complexion. He was wearing a gray zip-up hoodie, a t-shirt, and blue jeans.
