Man in wheelchair killed in hit-and-run in Hoke County

HOKE COUNTY (WTVD) -- Authorities are investigating after a man in a wheelchair was hit from behind on N.C. 211 Thursday.

It happened around 7:30 p.m. near Downer Road. After hitting the man, troopers said the driver fled the scene.

The man in the wheelchair was identified as Anthony Walker, 43, of Raeford. He died after being taken to the hospital.

Authorities did not release a description of the vehicle.
