WASHINGTON (WTVD) -- Governor Pat McCrory lived up to his end of the bargain in a friendly Super Bowl bet with Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper.

At a National Governors Association event, McCrory had to wear Hickenlooper's Broncos jersey because the Carolina Panthers lost Super Bowl 50 to the Denver Broncos 24-10.

"I want to officially congratulate Governor Hickenlooper on the great victory by the Denver Broncos," said Governor McCrory. "But we did make a bet where we also want to help the needy."

McCrory said that 100 cases of food from Butterball would be sent to food banks in Colorado and IAMS pet food would be sent to Colorado animal shelters. Food banks and animal shelters in North Carolina will also get similar goods.

McCrory didn't wear the jersey for long, when he took it off he had a Panthers jersey underneath, to the applause of the other governors.
