Motorcyclist killed in JoCo accident, police say

CLAYTON, N.C. (WTVD) -- An accident Saturday afternoon took the life of a motorcyclist in Clayton.

It happened around 1 p.m. on Amelia Church Rd. near Springwood Place. Police said a 2009 Harley Davidson motorcycle, driven by Alex Kenneth Arble, 31, of Clayton, collided with the rear of a Jeep Cherokee.

Witnesses reported that after he hit that back of the Jeep, Arble was ejected from the motorcycle into oncoming traffic and was struck by a another driver in a Jeep Wrangler traveling south.

Bystanders began conducting CPR and emergency responders from Johnston County EMS and Clayton Fire arrived to continue lifesaving efforts. Arble died from his injuries, Clayton police confirmed.

In a separate incident, while responding to the motorcycle accident, a Clayton police officer was involved in a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Amelia Church Rd. and Veteran's Parkway. The officer was treated and released at Johnston Medical Center in Clayton.

NC State Highway Patrol (NCSHP) is investigating the officer-involved accident.
