Big Spoon Roasters celebrates 15 years with Hillsborough birthday bash

HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- A Triangle-based food company is celebrated a major milestone.

Big Spoon Roasters, known for its award-winning nut butter and energy bar products, is marking 15 years in business with a birthday celebration at its Hillsborough facility.

Co-owners Mark and Megan Overbay started the company in Durham, producing small batches of high-quality products. Since then, the business has grown into a thriving operation with a larger production space in Hillsborough.

"It's hard to believe," Mark Overbay said. "Sometimes it feels like it's been 15 years and then some. Some days are longer than others as an entrepreneur. At the same time it feels like it was yesterday when we started. So yeah, it's hard to believe but we are really grateful for where we are."

The birthday bash happened Saturday where guests were able to sip, sample, and shop Big Spoon Roasters products, along with offerings from other vendors.

Organizers say the event supported a local cause. Proceeds will benefit Harper's Home, a nonprofit that helps families with children receiving treatment at Duke Hospital.
