SMITHFIELD, N.C. (WTVD) -- A boil water advisory has been issued in southern Johnston County following a water main break on Saturday, officials said.

Johnston County officials said customers in the Ingrams, Meadow, and Southeast Lowgrounds Water Districts may have experienced a water loss due to the break.

Officials said customers who have no water or very low water pressure when service is restored should boil their water for at least the following 24 hours. Tap water that is meant to be consumed should be boiled vigorously for at least one full minute.
