Burt Shavitz, co-founder and namesake of Burt's Bees, has died

Burt's Bees co-founder and namesake Burt Shavitz died Sunday, according to the company's Facebook page. He was 80 years old.

Burt's Bees has their headquarters in Durham.

Burt's Bees is self-described as an "Earth friendly, Natural Personal Care Company," manufacturing products for beauty, health, and personal hygiene.
