Death investigation underway after train strikes woman in Raleigh

RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- A woman was struck and killed by a train in Raleigh on Friday night.

The Raleigh Police Department responded to the area of Powell Street near Hillsborough Street after receiving a report that a woman had been struck by a train.

The woman's identity has not been released.

Police said officers and detectives are working with Amtrak to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. No charges have been filed.
