BRIER CREEK, N.C. (WTVD) -- Jockeys, juleps and bold Derby fashion filled Brier Creek on Saturday as more than 300 people gathered to celebrate the Kentucky Derby.
The event, hosted by local chapters of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, brought out guests dressed in their best Derby attire for an afternoon of food, festivities and philanthropy.
Organizers say the celebration was about more than springtime fun. Proceeds from the event and a silent auction will support scholarships and community service initiatives across the Triangle.
ABC11's Bianca Holman helped co-host and emcee the event, keeping the energy high as attendees watched the race and supported the cause.
