

RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- Thousands of Duke Energy customers are without power across central North Carolina as severe weather moves through the area Saturday afternoon.
More than 6,000 customers in Wake County are affected by outages, while more than 2,000 customers are without power in Durham County. In Cumberland County, more than 3,000 customers are without electricity.
Because of downed power lines in Wake Forest, Burlington Mills Road is closed between 1 World Way and Urial Drive.
Drivers are urged to avoid the area. There is no estimated timetable for the road to reopen.
