Deadly crash in Harnett County: Raw Video

DUNN, N.C. (WTVD) -- At least one person was killed in a crash in Harnett County Sunday morning.

Around 9:20 a.m., authorities responded to a two-vehicle collision involving a power pole in the 1700 block of West Cumberland Street in Dunn.

One person with serious injuries was taken to Betsy Johnson Hospital, where they were later pronounced dead.

The crash caused the power pole to snap and bring down traffic lights. Eastbound lanes of West Cumberland Street are shut down from N. Powell Avenue to Erwin Road.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) is working to replace the pole and reprogram traffic lights, which is expected to take five to six hours.

The Dunn Police Department has requested assistance from the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, and the forensic investigator at the Harnett County Sheriff's Office was also called.

Further details are expected from Dunn Police, and next-of-kin notification has not yet been made, according to an NCSHP sergeant at the scene.
