FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WTVD) -- With back-to-school approaching, two small businesses teamed up in Fayetteville to help children and parents prepare.
Air-Pro Heating, Air & Electric and the Shankar Law Firm handed out roughly 700 bookbags filled with school supplies and candy.
The event was held on Skibo Road. Dozens of families lined up to get supplies.
The organizers said that with prices of school supplies rising, they wanted to make sure the essentials were covered.
"This year, we are giving a little over 700 book bags away," said Chandan Shankar, of Shankar Law Firm. "And within these bookbags have school supplies like a lot of rulers, scissors, markers. There's about 30 items in the backpack for the kids to use in their upcoming school year."
