Fayetteville man charged in Greensboro hit-and-run involving pedestrian
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WTVD) -- A Fayetteville man is facing charges after police in Greensboro say he left the scene after striking a pedestrian.
The crash happened shortly before 11 p.m. on Thursday in the 3500 block of West Gate City Boulevard near Paschal Street.
Officers said the pedestrian was not using a designated crosswalk and was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Greensboro Police said Shamar Curry, 21, of Fayetteville, was behind the wheel of the Nissan Sentra when the crash happened.
Curry drove on for about 1.75 miles before pulling over on Interstate 40 and reporting that he had been involved in a crash with another car. Investigators determined that he had struck a person.
Curry was charged with driving while impaired and felony hit-and-run. He was given a $20,000 bond, which he posted.
The incident remains under investigation.
