Franklin County home damaged as strong storms move through central NC, no injuries reported

SPRING HOPE, N.C. (WTVD) -- Strong storms moving across central North Carolina on Saturday caused damage in Franklin County, where emergency officials say part of a home was torn apart.

According to Franklin County Emergency Management, a storm damaged a house near the intersection of Thomas Gay Road and Seven Paths Road in Spring Hope. A covered porch and siding were ripped off the home. No injuries were reported.

The damage comes as a Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect for all of central North Carolina until 9 p.m. Saturday. Forecasters warn that storms through the evening could produce localized damaging winds and heavy downpours.

Strong to severe thunderstorms are expected to continue into the evening as instability remains in the atmosphere.

Another round of storms is possible on Sunday as a front moves through the region. There is a Level 1 out of 5 risk for isolated severe storms, with damaging winds and brief heavy rain again the main threats.
