RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- The Carolina Hurricanes returned to the ice Tuesday morning after two days off following a series sweep over the Philadelphia Flyers.
The 'Canes won Game 4 late on Saturday night so the team was able to make it back to Raleigh in time for Mother's Day.
"That was my only gift for her," said Jordan Staal. "It was nice to hang out with the family."
Time away from the rink was extra meaningful for defenseman K'Andre Miller and Sean Walker. Both became fathers during the second-round series.
"It's a pretty cool experience," said Miller.
Miller welcomed a baby boy on May 2. Walker and his wife had a baby girl on May 8. This is each player's first child.
"Obviously a lot of guys with kids in the room so we've had a lot of, I call them, therapy talks," Miller said. "I know we're both excited to be dads."
The Carolina Hurricanes will face either the Montreal Canadiens or the Buffalo Sabres in the Eastern Conference Final.
