Issiah Ross testifies in murder trial

ORANGE COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) -- The man accused of killing two Orange County teenagers back in 2022 is testifying in his own defense.

On Wednesday, the prosecution wrapped up their witness list and Issiah Ross took the stand.

Ross is accused of killing Lyric Woods and Devin Clark.

The defense is presenting Ross' testimony as their only evidence in the case.

Their trial strategy is not presenting any other evidence other than his testimony.

Ross said he was 16 when he moved to North Carolina. He was a sophomore at Eastern Alamance High School.

He recalled how he met Devin Clark and how many times they hung out after they met.

Ross went on to describe his relationship with Christian Sykes and how they know each other.

"It was pretty basic. I know he was usually around to give me a ride if i needed a ride. Sometimes I'd be at work, he would step in."

Ross then testified that Clark shot Woods.

"I was shocked. Honestly I didn't want to believe what was happening," he said.

Ross will resume his testimony tomorrow when court resumes at 9:30 a.m.
