Man charged with murder in stabbing death of mother, Clayton Police say

CLAYTON, N.C. (WTVD) -- A man is behind bars in connection with the death of his mother.

It happened just before 11 a.m. on Monday at the Heritage Court Apartments at 509 E. Main St.

Clayton Police said 43-year-old Michael Corteze Sanders was charged with first-degree murder in the stabbing death of his mother, 65-year-old Robie Annette Sanders.

She was found with multiple stab wounds and pronounced dead at the scene.

An autopsy will be performed Tuesday.

The homicide and motive remain under investigation, police said.
