DURHAM, N.C. (WTVD) -- An update on the story of a North Carolina mother who vanished in 2001 and was found alive
Michele Hundley Smith was taken into custody in Robeson County on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear. The order stems from a DWI charge in November 2001.
Smith went missing a month later after her husband told authorities she had left home to travel to a Kmart in Virginia for Christmas shopping and never returned.
Last week, she was found in North Carolina at an undisclosed location. Deputies say Smith requested that her current location remain private.
