RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- Wednesday at the NC State Fair our military is getting some love for appreciation day and when you walk around you may see some folks out in uniform.
We were here this morning for the parade that made its way through.
It started the carnival midway, then made its way through kiddieland, past the Scott Building and back through the carnival midway.
Wednesday was all about honoring military members, their service and sacrifice. In addition to the parade there are other special programs throughout the day to show appreciation.
We talked with Bridgette Pittman with the National Guard and she said the parade was extra special this year.
"So this year is so very special for us with our 30th Armored Brigade Combat Team. This is the last time that we will have a M2A2 Bradley fighting vehicle that will be featured in the parade before the transition in 2026. Is our Army wide transition towards a lighter force and they will be transitioning to a mobile brigade combat team, So this is really special for us to have this vehicle in the parade this year," she explained.
If you're heading to the NC State Fair bring a valid form of military ID, and you get a plus one to get in free.
