Fire truck overturns while crew responding to emergency call in Burlington

BURLINGTON, N.C. (WTVD) -- A Burlington Fire Department truck was involved in an accident Sunday which also caused a power outage.

According to Burlington police, the crew was responding to an emergency call around 3:10 p.m. when the truck overturned onto its side.

The firefighters from Engine 3 who were on the truck were taken by EMS to a hospital for evaluation. Police said the crew was not injured in the accident and no other vehicles were involved.

The crash caused a power outage around Sharpe Rd between Ross St and NC 62. Duke Energy crews were dispatched to restore power to the area.

The accident is under investigation by Burlington police and the Fire Department and Safety Division of the City of Burlington.
