Shooting in Granville County leaves 1 dead, juvenile injured; suspect charged: sheriff

STOVALL, N.C. (WTVD) -- One person is dead and another is seriously injured after a shooting in Granville County Friday night.

According to the sheriff's office, around 7:40 p.m., authorities responded to a reported shooting outside a Family Dollar store on US-15 in Stovall.

One of the victims, identified as Ryan Ellington of Granville County, was pronounced dead at the scene. The second victim is a juvenile, who was airlifted to a hospital by Duke Life Flight. Authorities confirm their condition is listed as stable.

The suspected shooter was identified as Aiden Moss, 19, of Bullock.

Moss was charged with first degree murder and attempted first degree murder. He is being held at the Granville County Sheriff's Office Detention Facility without bond.

The investigation is ongoing. There are no additional details at this time, the sheriff's office said.
