Suspect in custody after victim raped on No. 1 train in Greenwich Village
The victim went to the hospital for treatment.

NEW YORK -- A suspect is in custody on Thursday afternoon after a man was raped on a subway train in New York City.

The suspect was identified as 36-year-old Mohammad Azeem. He is charged with rape, sex abuse and forcible touching.

The incident happened on Saturday, just after 4 a.m., aboard a No. 1 train in Greenwich Village.

Authorities say the attacker made sexual remarks and demanded money from the 27-year-old victim before forcing him to perform a sex act.

The suspect then ran off from the subway station.

The victim was taken to Northwell Greenwich Village Hospital and was said to be stable.
