Crimestopper tip leads to drug trafficking conviction in Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WTVD) -- A Crimestoppers tip led to the arrest and eventual conviction of a woman, Fayetteville Police said Thursday.

On Jan. 9, Tammy Renee Jones was sentenced to 72 months in federal prison followed by four years of supervised release.

Fayetteville Police arrested Jones in the 200 block of Alphin Street on Feb. 21, 2024, for drug trafficking and firearm offenses. At the time, Jones had additional pending cocaine trafficking charges from 2023.

Jones, 44, was federally indicted with the assistance of the FBI and the US Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of North Carolina.

She pleaded guilty to possession with Intent to distribute 28 grams or more of cocaine and possession of a firearm by a felon.
