CARY, N.C. (WTVD) -- A Cary YMCA employee is facing charges after he was accused of raping a child.
Wake County court documents show that Cary Police arrested 29-year-old Kyaun Tyrell Peppers, of Wilson, on Aug. 27.
Peppers was charged with the statutory rape of a child by an adult.
The charging documents say the alleged victim was 8 years old.
The YMCA of the Triangle said Peppers was recently hired as a part-time personal trainer at the Finley YMCA in Cary, and he passed all pre-employment background checks before being hired.
The organization said he worked only three days in supervised training and conducted no personal training sessions.
Peppers was immediately put on leave when the YMCA learned of the allegations.
A YMCA spokesperson told ABC11 that it "maintains zero tolerance for all forms of child abuse, neglect or exploitation."
She added that the charges against Peppers were not related to the YMCA.
