Coach Bill Belichick holds first briefing since Michael Lombardi's resignation
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (WTVD) -- UNC-Chapel Hill head football coach Bill Belichick is hosting a media briefing Monday, less than a week after the resignation of the program's general manager.
The Tar Heels are scheduled to take on East Tennessee State for its home opener at Kenan Stadium on Saturday.
The university announced last Thursday that General Manager of the football program Michael Lombardi resigned.
At a Faculty Council meeting Friday, Chancellor Lee Roberts did not address the investigation.
Despite not having Lombardi for the start of the season, UNC won its season opener against TCU in Dublin by a score of 15-10.
Lombardi Investigation
Lombardi's resignation comes 38 days after the university placed him on paid administrative leave following an HR complaint from a former football staffer. The university has not disclosed the nature of the complaint.
University leaders confirm its internal investigation is continuing and an outside legal counsel is also conducting a separate investigation.
Lombardi was the highest-paid general manager in college football, earning more than $1.5 million annually. According to the university, his contract does not provide for additional pay following his resignation.
