NC woman killed, passenger injured after shots fired into SUV; man charged, Durham police say
DURHAM, N.C. (WTVD) -- A woman was killed and another was injured in a shooting Saturday afternoon in Durham, and police have arrested a suspect on multiple felony charges.
According to the Durham Police Department, officers responded around 1:30 p.m. Saturday to a shooting on Revere Road near Sedwick Road. Investigators said a woman was driving a Mitsubishi Outlander south on Revere Road when shots were fired into her vehicle.
The driver, Victoria James, 43, of Durham, was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger, Dasia James, was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Court records identify another victim, Jeffery James, 16, who was not injured.
Police arrested Lontrel Diray Alston, 38, and charged him with:
- First-Degree Murder
- Two counts of Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill
- Discharging a Weapon inside an Occupied Vehicle
- Habitual Misdemeanor Assault
According to an arrest warrant, investigators allege Lontrel Diray Alston fatally shot Victoria James, wounded Dasia James, assaulted Jeffery James, and fired a handgun into the vehicle occupied by the three victims.
