Wake County deputies find man shot along Fayetteville Road

WAKE COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) -- A day after deputies investigated a reported shooting along the 9100 block of Fayetteville Road, the Wake County Sheriff's Office said the man wasn't shot after all.

Deputies responded on Wednesday night to a shots-fired call around 8 p.m. but couldn't find a victim. About an hour and a half later, they found a man at a nearby apartment complex who appeared to have been shot.

He was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening.

On Thursday, after further investigation, the sheriff's office said there was an altercation between two men when a gunshot was heard. After identifying all the people involved, investigators determined no one was hit by gunfire.

However, the sheriff's office said it would continue investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
