Man injured in Fuquay-Varina drive-by shooting

FUQUAY-VARINA, N.C. (WTVD) -- Fuquay-Varina police officers are investigating after a man was injured in a drive-by shooting on Tuesday night.

The incident happened in the 400 block of McLean Street. Officers responded there around 7:40 p.m. and found a man with gunshot wounds on his lower body.

He was taken to a hospital and was expected to recover.

Police said it appeared the victim was a passenger in a car with two others inside. As their vehicle pulled up between two houses, a large SUV or truck approached, and someone fired multiple shots into their vehicle.

The suspect vehicle then sped away. No other details about the suspect(s) were immediately available.

It appeared to be an isolated incident, police said.

Investigators remain at the scene, and people are asked to avoid the area.
