Body of Alamance County man found in Chatham County field

CHATHAM COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) -- The Chatham County Sheriff's Office has identified a body found in the northwestern part of the county.

That person has been identified as 38-year-old William Calice Cooper III of Alamance County.

His body was found Wednesday in a field near the 900 block of Moon Lindley Road.

The discovery came just days after the sheriff's office received a call about a suspicious person in the same area.

Deputies searched the area but did not find anyone.

Based on evidence, investigators said they believed Cooper was the person that the call was about.

Investigators are still working to determine how he died but said they do not suspect foul play, and there is no threat to the community.
