Fayetteville police arrest man for January rape

FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- The Fayetteville Police Department has arrested a man wanted in the rape of an acquaintance earlier this year.

Police said it happened in the area of Briar Circle and Owen Drive on Jan. 30. James Edward Daniel II, 28, was arrested and charged Wednesday.

Daniel is charged with three counts of first-degree rape, two counts of first-degree sex offense, first-degree kidnapping, breaking and entering, felony strangulation, and assault on a female.

Members of FPD's Violent Crimes Unit caught Daniel off Reilly Road. Daniel is being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $2,255,000 secured bond.
