Police have released new surveillance images of the SECU robbery in Durham

DURHAM (WTVD) -- Durham police are investigating a bank robbery that happened late Friday afternoon.

Police said it happened just after 5:30 at the State Employees' Credit Union on Ben Franklin Boulevard.

Authorities told ABC11 the suspect took off in a light-colored car.

Police said two hours before the SECU robbery, a man wearing a hat, a yellow shirt, and sunglasses entered the First Citizens Bank at 4004 North Roxboro Street and told the tellers "This is a stickup." He then said he was joking and left.

A man later entered the SECU in a hat, a blue shirt, and sunglasses and demanded money. No weapon was seen and he fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

No injuries were reported.
