DURHAM (WTVD) -- Duke baseball is going back to the NCAA tournament for the first time in 55 years.

Duke earned an at-large bid to the South Carolina Regional as a No. 3 seed and will face off against UNC Wilmington, a No. 2. seed, Friday.

Duke lost to Wake Forest in the opening game of the ACC Tournament, casting some doubt on their ability to make the 64-team NCAA tournament.

Our crew was with the Duke team during the selection show and captured the moment of pure joy as their team was announced. The players, coaches, family members, and fans cheered and high-fived after their name was called. Duke coach Chris Pollard was seen giving plenty of hugs.

The Blue Devils last made the tournament in 1961, when they advanced to their third College World Series, the Duke Chronicle reports.
