1 person dead in Camp LeJeune incident near elementary school

Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune said one person was killed in an incident that took place on Tuesday near an elementary school.

A precautionary lockdown of on-base schools was put in place, but was lifted. No students, children, or staff were hurt.

The reported incident took place near Tarawa Terrace Elementary School which is why the school went into lockdown as a precaution.

The person killed has not been identified at this time.
