Piano Vibes makes music lessons accessible to all

HOUSTON, Texas -- Music lessons can be a powerful tool in education, but often the costs can add up quickly. That's why a school of music at Houston's Project Row Houses is focused on making lessons accessible to everyone.

Piano Vibes is one of the newest cohorts at Project Row Houses' Business Residency Program. The music education studio offers lessons that are reduced cost, or in some cases, free. Every Wednesday, Piano Vibes offers free community piano lessons at the historic ElDorado Ballroom, across the street from Project Row Houses in Third Ward.

"They really, really engage in what were trying to teach, and we offer that at a premium of F-R-E-E," said Achille Javois, owner and founder of Piano Vibes.

Piano Vibes offers instruction to students of all ages, from kids to adults, and lessons are available for piano, voice and drums.

"Project Row Houses is a call and response organization," said Michael Higgins of Project Row Houses. "The call from the community is that we want opportunities to be able to learn music. So our response was to go out and provide these music lessons for them, and now we have Piano Vibes."
