Fayetteville woman charged with promoting teen prostitution

FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- A Fayetteville woman has been charged with promoting prostitution of a minor police said.

Detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department's Human Trafficking Unit made an arrest in connection with an investigation that began September 16 involving a 16-year-old victim.

Karla Bernice Gainey, 35, was arrested and charged with promotion of prostitution of a minor and conspiracy to commit human trafficking of a minor. Both are felony charges.

Gainey was arrested on Monday and was placed in the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $75,000 secured bond.
