4 charged in deadly Robeson County convenience store shooting, robbery

RED SPRINGS, N.C. (WTVD) -- Four people have been charged in connection with a double shooting at a Robeson County convenience store earlier this month.

Investigators say two men entered Roscoe's Convenience Store in the 400 block of North Main Street on Dec. 11 and began firing shots after demanding cash.

A customer, 72-year-old James Johnson, was killed. The store's owner, Rodney Maynard, was shot in the shoulder.

Friday, 32-year-old Ladarrian Kearse, and 27-year-old Charkesha Soloman were arrested in connection with the incident.

Kearse was charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, attempted first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Soloman was charged with conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Authorities later arrested 18-year-old Vayshawn McLean and 22-year-old Darick McArthur.

McLean was charged with first-degree murder and armed robbery with a dangerous weapon.

McArthur was charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, attempted first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and felony robbery with a dangerous weapon.
