Wildfire burns 500+ acres near Asheville

BLACK MOUNTAIN, N.C. (WTVD) -- A massive fire in western North Carolina is threatening several homes.

Crews have been deployed at Black Mountain for hours trying to get the flames under control.

At least one firefighters has been hurt.

Firefighters are having a tough time knocking down the blaze because of high wind.

At one point, the flames were 100 feet tall.

The fire is still burning and moving. So far, more than 500 acres have been scorched.

At last report, crews said they believe everyone who needed to evacuate the area has left.
