Police: 2 bodies found inside Fayetteville home
FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- Jermaine Irving said he thought it was strange when he hadn't seen his neighbors down the street in the 5500 block of Aberdeen Place, in a while. So he went and knocked on the door.
Right away, he realized something wasn't right.
"We smelled an odor," said Irving, who then looked through a window. "This is not real."
He called police and when Fayetteville officers arrived just before 2 p.m., they found two bodies decomposing inside.
Detectives with FPD's Homicide Unit said late Thursday that the initial investigation reveals "no apparent sign of suspicious circumstances surrounding the deaths." The bodies will be sent to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for further evaluation.
"It touched my heart that a lady we see every day up and down the block, two of them, mother and daughter," Irving said.
"They were nice older ladies that were always running around, going to Walmart on the bus," said Dora Skaggs, who lives just across the street.
She also said the two women were mother and daughter, with the younger woman having some kind of disability. Skaggs said they had lived in the neighborhood for a long time and were very nice. Skaggs said one of the women was a big wrestling fan and would share WWE magazines with Skaggs' son.
"They brought my son lollipops and suckers and WWE magazines," Skaggs. Said.
Skaggs said she hadn't talked to the two women for quite some time and had heard the women's three dogs barking during the past few nights but didn't think much of it.
"Because they take them out in the evening and let them run around their little pen, so I thought, well they're letting their dogs out, apparently they weren't," recalled Skaggs. "It was a shocker for me to hear that both of them at one time passed away, I find that kind of weird."
