CLAYTON, N.C. (WTVD) -- A shooting in Clayton left two people injured Tuesday morning.

The shooting happened on Pond Street. The first call came in at 3:00 a.m., sending officers to the area of Pond Street and Durham Street.

A short time later, officers were sent to another call of a gunshot victim on Joyner Street, which is just a block away from the initial shooting call.

Officers found a 14-year-old with a gunshot to the chest. He was taken to WakeMed in Raleigh where he is in serious condition.

"He's up. He's alive. He's talking and everything. He's in ICU but he's doing good. He's doing well," the teen's uncle Roger Barnes said. "I just pray for my city because innocent kids that's getting harmed and into unnecessary stuff, and I just pray for my city."

The teen is a student at Clayton Middle School.

"God is good, that is what I can say - God is good. He's (the teenager) communicating with his father. He told his father everything that happened," Barnes said.

Barnes said the teen also told his father this about the shooting, "He came outside because he thought it was his Uber ride. but it wasn't his Uber ride that was pulling up. So he sees some man staying at the side of the house and the man was like, shhh. So he went back inside. By the time he went back inside, I guess he said that they ambushed the door and just ran in and started firing."

The other shooting victim has been identified as 28-year-old Andrea Joi Bailey, of Raleigh. She was taken to the hospital with a gunshot to the hip.

Clayton Police Department is investigating both shootings. No suspect information is available at this time.
