13abc's Rob Powers will be leaving to move up within the ABC owned stations. Rob will become sports anchor at WABC, New York's #1 television station. Both 13abc and WABC are owned by ABC and the Walt Disney Company.
Rob has been our sports director for the past eleven years. Five years ago, he became co-anchor of Action News at 5:30 as well. He began his career in Binghamton, New York, then Indianapolis, before coming to Toledo. While here, he has won an impressive four Emmy's and multiple other broadcast awards.
Rob's wife, Deb, was instrumental in coordinating volunteers during Toledo's Extreme Makeover Home Edition program a year ago. Rob, Deb and their two sons, Jack and Brendan will be relocating to New York.
All of us congratulate Rob on this promotion. Naturally, all of us here wish the entire Powers family continued success as Rob becomes weekend sports anchor in the largest market in America!
