Incumbent mayors win big

RALEIGH Fayetteville Mayor Anthony Chavonne will have to partake in a run-off election in November against opponent Bob White. As will all the other top two candidates from districts 2, 4 and 6.

However over in Wake County, Raleigh Mayor Charles Meeker was elected for a fifth term as mayor of the capital city.

Raleigh City Council At-Large seated two candidates, Mary-Ann Baldwin and Russell Stephenson. While Cary Town Council District A candidate Lori Bush and candidate Jennifer Robinson will have to face off again in a run-off election next month.

Several districts in Cary and Raleigh had victorious wins well over the 50 percent margin. For a breakdown of district results click here

In Durham County, the margin of victory was also significant for Durham City Council Ward 1 candidate Cora Cole-Mcfadden and Durham City Council Ward 2 candidate Howard Clement III.
