7 arrested in Durham prostitution sting

DURHAM, N.C.

Police targeted the area of Fayetteville Street between Umstead Street and Simmons Street and South Alston Avenue between Linwood Avenue and Lawson Street.

Officers conducted the operation Tuesday night and into the early hours of Wednesday in response to complaints from nearby residents.

Officers arrested the following people:

  • Bibi Johnson Freeman, 40, of Francis Street was arrested at Fayetteville Street and Umstead Street and charged with procuring for prostitution.
  • Keith Ward, 50, of Liberty Street was arrested at Fayetteville Street and Simmons Street and charged with procuring for prostitution and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Tabitha Whoie, 37, of East Umstead Street was arrested at Fayetteville Street and Umstead Street and charged with procuring for prostitution and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Vonetta Johnson, 39, of Holloway Street was arrested at Fayetteville Street and Simmons Street and charged with procuring for prostitution.
  • Jacqueline Dawkins, 46, of East Umstead Street was arrested at Linwood Avenue and Merrick Street and charged with procuring for prostitution.
  • Courtney Lord Doran, 33, of Helmsdale Drive in Chapel Hill was arrested at Fayetteville Street and Umstead Street and charged with procuring for prostitution and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Charmaine Nelson, 41, of South Alston Avenue was arrested at Fayetteville Street and Simmons Street and charged with procuring for prostitution.
